SP3 White Paper on Functional Recovery for New Ca Housing Bill Now Available
Post-Earthquake Reoccupancy and Functional Recovery Times for New Residential Buildings in California: What do Current Codes and Building Practices Provide?
The SP3 team recently released a white paper that examines post-earthquake recovery times for residential buildings in California, available here.
Earthquake resilience, particularly Functional Recovery, has garnered significant attention in the California legislature, so the purpose of this white paper is to help California lawmakers (and residents) understand the resilience of California residential buildings, as they begin to consider Functional Recovery legislation (e.g. California Assembly Bill 1329, with more information here). It is exciting that recent advancements in our profession are being applied not just to better-inform building tenants and owners, but also to inform our lawmakers as they develop public policy.
