Funding the R&D that makes SP3 complete
Numerous industry groups have funded building-system-specific research so SP3 can cover all structural systems — not just the subset in the public FEMA P-58 tools.
The publicly available FEMA P-58 risk assessment tools cover only a subset of structural systems, and do not include reliable structural response predictions — needed for risk analysis when nonlinear response-history analysis results are not available. The partners below funded system-specific R&D to close that gap: fragility function development, SP3 Structural Response Prediction Engine automation modules, and system-specific assessment of resilient design for functional recovery.
