SERVICES

CONSULT | The SP3 Team regularly provides consulting support, to supplement our software offerings.  We do this to aid our clients in being highly successful on their risk assessment projects.

SUPPORT | We regularly consult in support of resilient design projects, advanced seismic risk assessments of individual buildings and/or unique structures, and risk assessments of large portfolios of buildings.

EVALUATE | We also regularly work with product manufacturers to evaluate their component performance data and to create fragility functions for use in SP3/P-58 risk assessment.

Resilient Design

If you would like extra help on your current resilient design project, let us know!

We always enjoy supporting clients in increasing the resilience in their building projects.

This can be anything from a general review of your project and assumptions, all the way to us joining your design team to work collaboratively with you on every step of the structural and non-structural design.

Seismic Risk Assessment of Individual Buildings

The SP3 Team also loves to support advanced seismic risk assessment projects.

This takes on many forms including risk assessments for owners wanting to better understand their seismic risk, risk assessment to support investment decision-making, advanced mortgage due-diligence risk assessments, and risk assessment to support insurance decision-making.

Our typical model is to support our engineering clients in such risk assessments (they lead the assessment and we support) and we sometimes lead the risk assessment project when that is specifically requested by the end client.

The level of support ranges greatly on projects and can include basic technical support, independent review of your analysis by the SP3 Team, or having an SP3 Team member being more integrated into your team in support of the project.

Seismic Risk Assessment of Portfolios of Buildings

Assessing the risk for a large portfolio or inventory of buildings is becoming common for SP3 projects, with this use-case being supported by the new SP3-Batch and SP3-RiskModel Express modules now being available.

Due to the complex nature of many of these projects, the SP3 Team often consults to help with the data input/output, the use of SP3-Batch to automate the analysis for hundreds to thousands of buildings (and sometime much more), and can also aid in the aggregated portfolio-level risk assessment.

The value that SP3 brings to these projects is the more building-specific nature of the vulnerability curves (which is automated for even basic information on the buildings, through SP3-RiskModel Express), and the ability to look at both direct financial losses and detailed assessments of building downtimes (e.g. time to repair to regain occupancy and function).

Fragility Function Creation for Resilient Structural and Non-Structural Components

With resilient design becoming more common in the industry, product manufacturers are stepping up to provide more resilient components, including both structural and non-structural components.

The SP3 Team regularly works with these product manufacturers to evaluate their performance data and to do the needed work for their component to be used within the FEMA P-58 and SP3 risk assessment processes.  This is a win-win, as it gives SP3 users access to all the latest resilient components, and provides the manufacturer a way for their component to be easily included in the analyses that engineers use for resilient design.
