The purpose of this webinar was to provide newer users with real time examples of how users can make an initial model in less than 30 seconds and easily copy/modify models to run comparison studies or candidate structural systems. As we have been going through our technical webinar series on Resilient Design for Functional Recovery and New Resilient Structural Systems, we received feedback that the research-based new developments in SP3 are great topics, but we are missing content “to help get people started with SP3”. In response to this, we hosted this brief webinar as an informal introduction to SP3 and an interactive Q&A with SP3 team members using the software.

In addition to examples for initial models, Dr. Haselton and Dr. DeBock cover various SP3 inputs and outputs, and how you can use SP3 for various stages of your design, from initial structural system selection all the way through final design decisions. We also touch on the many use cases of SP3, including resilient design of new buildings, retrofit of existing buildings, risk assessment of existing buildings for mortgage or insurance purposes, and even assessment of large portfolios of buildings.
