FEMA P-58 Functional Recovery Module Webinar (FR Webinar #2)
The SP3 Team is kicked off a new webinar series, March 8th, focused on Resilient Design for Functional Recovery. The goal of this webinar series is to keep you updated on the many recent developments in this resilient design arena, and to provide you with the tools, background, and training necessary to implement resilient design for functional recovery in your structural engineering practice.
Second Webinar: FEMA P-58 Functional Recovery Module – Methodology and Use for Resilient Design
Presented by Jon A. Heintz, PE, SE, Executive Director, Applied Technology Council &
Abbie B. Liel, PhD, PE, Professor, University of Colorado, Boulder
This webinar presented the new FEMA P-58 Functional Recovery Module (developed on the ATC-138 project) and how this new FEMA P-58 FR Module can be used to facilitate resilient seismic design of buildings. Presenters Jon Heintz and Abbie Liel each led phases in the two-part development of this new functional recovery methodology and module. Abbie Liel led the first NIST-funded phase of development, followed by Jon Heintz being the Project Manager in the second phase of development funded by FEMA through ATC (co-led with Ron Hamburger as Project Technical Director). This new methodology was released as Beta in January 2022, with many updates and additional releases throughout 2022 and 2023. The source code for this methodology is publicly available on GitHub, here. The ATC-138 project team is still actively working on final methodology refinements and plans to complete the final version of this methodology in September 2023.
