ATC-138 Results – Functional Recovery Workshop
Building Reoccupancy and Recovery Times as Measured by the ATC-138 Functional Recovery Methodology
Dr. D. Jared DeBock recently presented state-of-the-art functional recovery predictions for code-conforming buildings at the Functional Recovery Workshop hosted by the Applied Technology Council (ATC) with funding from FEMA. The workshop focused on the next steps and future of functional recovery assessment and resilient design for functional recovery. This included examples of current efforts in building code development related to designing buildings for function instead of just for safety. The benchmarking data was created as a result of the ongoing ATC-138 project and is intended to help inform and support current industry-wide efforts in resilient design and functional recovery.
