17WCEE Presentation

Resilient Seismic Design using Prescriptive and Non-Prescriptive Design Methods

The 2021 17th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (17WCEE) commenced at Sendai International Centre in Sendai, Japan, from September 27 to October 2, 2021 after its original postponement in 2020.

This year’s theme focused on “Towards Disaster Resilient Society”, and included both in-person and remote presentations from delegates around the world. These presentations focused on sharing new ideas for both developed and developing countries to implement new policies for building disaster resilient societies and creating new directions through integrating various fields of earthquake disaster reduction specialties.

SP3 Co-Founder and CEO, Dr. Curt Haselton, held a short presentation on the new and ongoing developments of SP3 as relates to functional recovery and how leaders in the Structural Engineering community can work together to improve resilient design requirements.
