New Risk Modeling Updates for Wood Light-Frame
We are pleased to announce a couple major updates to our SP3 wood light-frame modeling module, which pull in the valuable learning from the recent three-year PEER-CEA research project, and fully integrate those findings into the SP3 engineering-analysis-based building-specific Monte Carlo risk analysis process. This effort was led by new SP3 Team member Dr. David Welch, who was previously a Stanford post-doc and played an instrumental role in the PEER-CEA project by being the primary modeler and analyst.
This extensive modeling update now makes SP3 a complete solution for seismic risk modeling of wood light-frame buildings of any era and with any level of building information. This release covers stable-foundation buildings, and the next release (nearly done and to be announced shortly) will fully integrate modeling of cripple wall failure and sliding on unbolted stem walls into the SP3 Monte Carlo risk assessment process.
